Guitarist and composer

Livio Gianola is the only non-Spanish guitarist to have written flamenco music for the prestigious Ballet Nacional de España.

In almost 15 years of collaboration with world renowned dancer Antonio Canales, he created the music for the ballets "Torero" (1992), "Narciso" (1995), "Gitano" (1996), "Minotauro" (2002), "Bailaor" (2004) and "Bohemio" (2006).

In addition, he also composed the music for the show "Rosso" by Rafael Amargo and Lola Greco (2010) as well as "Cupaima, homenaje a Chavela Vargas" by the Flamenco Ballet Cecilia Gómez (2013).  

His works are represented on the most prestigious stages of this world such as: the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Élyseés in Paris, the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, the Lope de Vega in Seville, the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Grand Theater in Shanghai and the Acropolis Theater in Athens. 

Both as a soloist as well as in various formations, he participated in important events such as the "Sopot Classic Festival" in Poland, the "Bienal de Flamenco" in Seville and the "Festival di Sanremo", and also appeared in several television broadcasts for RAI 1, RAI 3 (Italy), RTSI (Switzerland), TVE (Spain), VPRO (the Netherlands), and TVP (Poland).

Livio has written music for cinema and theater receiving an award at the Film Festival of Rimini (1998) and at the Mediterranean Film Fest of Syracuse (2018). Furthermore, he has also composed more extensive oeuvres in the classical field, among which: the "Concierto para un alma noble” (2018), and the" Suite del Levantino "(2003), both for guitar and orchestra.  

He has published several collections of studies and exercises for classical and flamenco guitar and other compositions for the editions "Sinfonica" and "Berben".

In his own name, he published five CDs titled "Sombra" (2001), "Bohemio" (2009), "Otro Sitio" (2014), "Solo a Poniente" (2016) and “Ottocorde” (2019).
He is currently working on his sixth CD of his own compositions for guitar and orchestra.
